Pan Gongsheng, Governor of the People’s Bank of China (PBOC), met with Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, and Maria Luis Albuquerque, European Commissioner for Financial Services and the Savings and Investments Union respectively on October 15th and 16th, 2025, at the margins of the IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings. They exchanged views on the economic and financial developments in China and Europe, as well as financial cooperation between the two sides.

Pan Gongsheng stated that bilateral relationship between China and the EU is among the most important bilateral relationships in the world, of which financial cooperation is a key pillar. Both sides should move toward each other, and promote practical financial cooperation.
