Born in 1952. Ph.D. in Economics, Johns Hopkins University.
October 2009	Deputy Governor, People's Bank of China (PBC)
2003~2009	Executive Assistant President of Bank of China (BOC) until August 2006, and then Group Executive Vice President of BOC
1996~2005	Economic Advisor to the BOC President until November 2003 when he was appointed Executive Assistant President of BOC. During this period, he also held various other positions in BOC, first as Board Member of BOC International Holding Limited, then General Manager of BOC International Financial Research Institute, and General Manager of Bank of China (Hong Kong) Restructuring and IPO Office. He was General Manager of BOC Group Restructuring and IPO Office from January 2003 to August 2005.
